Musical: The Story
Thanks to the George Watson's College in Edinburgh for providing these great images from their production!
Opening Sequence
After the rip-roaring of Myro's theme tune sung by the choir, a family of kangaroos bounce onto the stage to set the scene.
Then scores of bush animals of all ages and sizes enter the room from the stage, the sides and from the rear, to the sounds of the tingling music of 'The Bush', which you can hear by pressing play below. |

Scene 1.
After a long trip by cargo ship, Myro arrives in Australia from the UK and can’t wait to explore his new home from the skies.
Fortunately, his new friend Gigi the Gyrocopter is only too pleased to show him around and help him discover the unique scenery and wildlife that makes Australia so special. |

Scene 3.
Keen to thank Gigi for her great welcome and friendship, Myro is inspired in a dream to organize a surprise Air Show for her.
He just needs to find some interesting aircraft to take part in the big surprise...

Scene 4.
One morning, Myro sleeps in a little bit longer than usual and is woken by the noise of terrified animals stampeding. Behind them, Myro sees the reason for their panic: a Bush Fire! Realising he is alone at the flying club after his lie-in, Myro is the only plane who can raise the alarm; but he’ll need to fly higher than he’s ever flown if his radio is going to have any chance of transmitting a Mayday distress signal.
Managing to overcome his fear, Myro succeeds in raising the alarm and the fire is put out by Hana the Hercules. With the flying club saved, Myro invites Hana to be the first plane in his surprise air show. |

Scene 5.
Interested by talk of the air show, Tymo the Tiger Moth can’t wait to get involved.
The only problem being that he no longer has any wings, he lost his propeller years ago and has just been sitting around waiting for the scrap metal merchant to call to take him away. Myro’s new friends Una and Ugo the Ultralights are determined to restore the Tiger Moth to his former glory, with just a little help from some local Bush animals. |

Scene 6.
The excitement of organising the Air Show and meeting lots of new friends helps Myro adjust to life in a new country. Not that he doesn’t occasionally miss his old home in the UK and all his old friends.
Fortunately, he's found a new best friend in Gigi, who talks of her own experience moving from New Zealand and how she settled in to make Australia her new home too. |

Scene 7.
Not all the new friends Myro meets are aircraft. Day after day, Rayco the Railcar reliably takes tourists up into the Blue Mountains and then... brings them back down again!
From Rayco we re-learn the classic ‘Tortoise and Hare’ lesson that steady progress can often be more rewarding than pure speed. This is an optional scene to reduce length of Musical by 6-7 minutes. |

Scene 8.
Minding his own business one day at the flying club, Myro is alarmed to see a band of Parachute Pirates freefalling through the sky in his direction. Experts at skydiving, the Pirates give an incredible display of acrobatic skill as they target the Flying Club from the sky.
With nowhere to hide, Myro soon learns that they have a bone to pick with him - they haven't been asked to take part in the Airshow! All is smoothed over though and Myro discovers where the Pirates hunt for their treasure! |

Scene 9.
Being the smallest plane in the world does have its disadvantages: people like to make fun of him for being so tiny! Jimo the Jetfighter is no exception and roars past Myro one day calling him a ‘lawnmower’ on the way past.
Comforted by his best friend Gigi, it isn’t long before the tables are turned on the show-off Jimo and Myro finds himself in a position to choose to either help the stricken Jet Fighter, or to make fun of him. Fortunately for Jimo, Myro makes the right choice and forges a new friendship - and, crucially, finds a star turn for the Airshow! |

Scene 10. Finale
After so many adventures, Myro is finally ready to stage his Airshow with the help of all his new found aircraft friends. But which one should lead the opening display? All the aircraft are excellent flyers and they’ve all become such very special friends.
In the end, Myro has to search his heart to discover which aircraft is most deserving of the job. The opening display can finally begin and the crowds cheer as the story concludes in carnival atmosphere.
