Reception / Key Stage 1 Shows
Having an author visit is a big event for children!
Teachers place such importance on reading that their children feel they are meeting someone important and famous! As the children walk into the hall, Nick, who will be wearing his flying suit, will be talking and joking with them so they relax and become more inclined to get involved. Using a Power Point Presentation, Nick starts by introducing himself and his love of flying. He then explains why he decided to write the books, and how he went about it. Nick then describes the characters before reading 'Myro and the Jet Fighter' page by page from the Power Point Presentation, pointing out facts in the book as he goes. Finally, Nick takes questions from the audience. |
Key Stage 2 Shows
Similar to the previous show, Nick will be performing slightly differently, taking into account the children's age.
If the KS2 classes are Year 3 and older, instead of reading a book, Nick will talk more about crafting story structures, and explaining in more detail how he created the iPad apps.
Nick's shows are unique as he is the only author on the 'circuit' who talks about making the books into iPad Apps. Children are fascinated by their tablets and computers, and so are enthralled with Nick's creations!

Prizes
For those schools who bought a Myro English Teaching Kit (special half price offer of only £9.99), they will have access to the 'colouring-in' sheets on the CD-ROM to print out.
These can then be coloured in by their Reception/KS1 classes as a fun competition. As part of buying the Teaching Kit, Nick will bring along Myro Activity Packs worth £4 each, to give as prizes to the lucky winners at the end of the show. |
